My New Car - "The Seat Soot Chucker" by damo :-)

Featured Replies

Just got a new car which is...

Seat Toledo 1.9 TDi PD150 Sport

54 Plate

79k with FSH

Arctic Grey (although it look's silver to me)

17" Seat Alloys with Toyo tyres

6 Speed Gearbox

Usual creature comforts, including powerfold mirrors, climatronic etc.

Really really tidy, just needs a scratch on door polishing out or maybe spraying and a couple of pinprick dints sorting

Interior is immaculate

For the price I've paid its an absolute steal, but it needs the cambelt doing imminently

Must say this car has impressed me with the power on tap

Its not as rapid as previous cars I've owned off the mark (about 8.3s to 60 I believe) but by god its quick when overtaking, especially when you drop a cog and floor it.

Quite a good ride too, firm but not unpleasant over the pot holed streets of Sheffield and goes well round the twisties when asked.

Of course, it comes into its own on the motorway, when cruising in 6th gear, where it will sit at 70 just ticking over.

Pretty much has all the boxes ticked to be honest.

Loving the economy as well, which is a good thing when fuel prices are as high as they are (60 mpg easily achievable, although more realistic early 50's with town driving as well)

Workmates say to me, its a nice car but no looker, and I actually quite like that. Its understated but really sporty to drive. Surprises a lot of other drivers in their flash cars if you feel the need :)

Overall, this car suits my needs down to the ground. Its large enough for the family, doesn't attract too much attention from the undesirables, Really fast, economical, comfy ride, all the toys and still in the VAG family.

That'll do for me

Anyway, future plans...

Nothing drastic in mind just these really (In pretty much the order I'll be doing them)

Cambelt

Panel Filter

Remap (180-90bhp)

Seat surgeons retrim, in Black leather, with quilted centres and Red Stitching plus Seat Logo

Possibly Decat

And that's about it, apart from keeping it serviced and in tip top shape

Any comments/opinions or even better, ideas are gratefully received (Although Im not lowering/changing alloys or anything major)

Will keep updating as and when I do anything, and will get some better pics up soon as poss

Cheers

Damo

Will you keep it long enough to do all that, damo?

I actually quite like the look of the Toledo - reasonable interior space, massive boot, massive fuel economy - little to fault really

Mine was only the 110, but regularly gave mid 60s mpg

Looks like a really good car. Never really paid much attention to the Toledo but that does look a stunner. B)

Hooray to the Seat Saloon! hehe

Looks tidy.

One question though... where have all your rear head rests gone?!

lol, Im under strict instructions to keep this one Bri...or face the wrath of Michelle!

Like I said, this ticks all the boxes.

Don't get me wrong, If I could have afforded an Octy VRS TDi I would have gone for that probably, but this is a pretty good cheaper alternative.

Everything still feels tight and like new, and it doesn't seem like its an older car, It feels like a car that costs at least double what I paid (If you get what I mean)

Thanks mate, I like the understated look, and think its handsome in its own way.

It definitely is a good example of the model, and when I have finished it will be mint

Hey up fellow Seat owner :D

Not sure whats happening there with the headrests tbh, as these are just photos from the sale ad before I got it

All the headrests are back in it now anyway

Only thing I can think of, is the chap I bought it off was in his 50's and had no kids, so maybe he removed them to improve visibility?

Not sure though

Not really done that much to the old gal, (Only done 2k in 9 mths) but its been a while since I last updated this thread, so here goes...

In January, I took her down to Mansfield, to Shark and let Ben and the boys work their magic on her.

Must say, its a really nice smooth drive now, and can show up a fair few hot hatches should the need arise.

Motorway cruising in 6th, at 80mph on tickover is a joy, and watching the trip computer showing 60+mpg is an added bonus.

No need to change down for overtakes, the power is just there whenever you want it.

Unfortunately, the turbo decided to give up the ghost within a few hundred miles so I had to fork out for a new one, and fitting which ate into my modifications budget significantly.

So, with no money available for anything else I decided to give her a proper detail instead, which saw me spending 13hrs of an unusually sunny Bank Holiday weekend washing/claying/polishing/sealing and waxing. I also debadged her to clean up the rear end, added a couple of Seat stickers and replaced all bulbs with led's.

She did look awesome after the detail though, and everyone at my work commented on how well she looked.

Next up was service time, which meant another big chunk of cash, as it was a major service including Cambelt and water pump.

I took it to Autohaus Dolby, which is a local VW specialist, and Matt the owner/technician came highly recommended. Must say I was really impressed with his attitude and professionalism and would also recommend it to others.

With that done, and the FSH kept up I was a very happy bunny.

However, I then noticed my front off side calliper seemed to be sticking, and the disk getting very hot, so I stripped it down and tried to clean it with brake cleaner and regrease the piston which seemed stuck.

Unfortunately, it wasn't having it, so I got a brand new caliper and pads and now it is perfect again.

For my Birthday last week, my missus got me a cupra splitter (she knows me so well) so I have put that on, and reading up on fitting them it said use 8-10 screws. Anyway, I decided to use a few more to make sure it never comes off accidentally and mine has 38 :D

So, until funds allow, I'll just keep on top of keeping her clean and tidy, and update the thread as/when I do any more

Thanks for reading

Damo

ps, here are a few pics of her as she stands now

They're so bl00dy expensive though...but they do look great on a Toledo, as well as the side skirts.

Maybe, when funds allow
