Octavia Cigar lighter saga!

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Finally managed to remove the cigarette lighter from the centre console as I believe a it's faulty (keeps blowing fuses and the wiring seems okay?), but now I have an issue. I'm trying to find a replacement and was intending to use Ebay, however all the examples they have seem to have different connectors on the bottom. The one I have had a large plastic bit with three identical prongs on it, which connect to the plug for the wiring on the car. All the ones I have found don't seem to have this white adapter on the bottom, and the prongs are not the same. It seems that I have to remove the adapter thingy or something, but this looks like it could be an absolute nightmare!

Can anybody advise me please? Thanks in advance!

just realised this is the wrong place, can a mod please move it? thanks

Moved,

have you though of going to the dealer and just getting a new one. Most interior parts and some external can be had a lot cheaper than ebay plus they'll be brand new. Take the radio trim for the Fabia for example, £10-15 on ebay and £2.50 from the dealer. Wiper blades, yep cheaper at the dealer.

Thanks!

Yeah, I've called them today but there was no answer as I know from previous experience this is sometimes the cheaper option. What appealed about Ebay was that they were new and boxed, plus I don't have to leave the house, hehe. Thanks for the advice!

No scrap yards near you? I usually find they're the best place for such parts

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

Just had a look on parts listing but it doesn't make sense to me and there is about 4 differant cig lighters by look of it altho looks like you can buy it in bits
