wood splitter on fabia

Featured Replies

Well, already bored with my seat splitter, i came across a front end of an MG British touring car, Jason Platos actually lol, from brands yesterday. Its made of wood and carbon fibre, a bit rough, but i think i may try to manipulate it onto mine. Not sure about wood though, wouldn't it just dissolve after time in this lovely British weather?

Any thoughts from anyone?

I'm interested to see what you come up with.

Me to! If it goes boobs up i can always go back to the Seat one.

If you treat it with creosote it will last longer. Well it works on fences :-)

As a builder I'd suggest making it out of 12mm WBP plywood,

9mm if you need some flex. MDF is a waste of time as it will

need sealing which is hard to do anyway. If the sealing should fail

and water gets in then MDF will blow itself apart.

Even the moisture resistant green MDF.

The WBP is the important part as it signifies it's made with

waterproof glue ;)

It's the bare minimum required for construction purposes.

Oh, and you can't get creosote any more.

It causes cancer.

I have a tub in my shed if you want it.

Been there a few years.

The spiders and cobwebs will come free :)

I think I would have the smell of Creosote on my air vents forever more...

It is already made, the shape of the flat bit is made from wood (the layered waterproof glue stuff) and the lower bit, the bit that would scrape all over the road is made from carbon fibre (whats left of it).

Even comes complete with gravel from where it must have sucked some up!

I'll post photos later

You mean you literally have platos splitter???

I do yes, i work for the hospitality team for Mg btcc, would be quite unique if i could sort it to fit.

Be aware that this splitter you have may actually do something

as opposed to just looking pretty like the usual cupra splitter we all fit.

Make sure your bumper is screwed on well :p :D

so, it clearly looks like a piece of rubbish thats fell out the back of a dump truck and been run down, but I can see some potential here. the only thing, is my car still has the original Yeti suspension lol on it, but, I will see how it goes.

I won't have the cupra splitter on at the same time obviously

Any sort of pass would be really appreciated. Don't mind what they cost really just me and a mate are BIG btcc fans and would love any pass that would get us closer to the cars and drivers!

I don't know if you would get into trouble with mr plod with that because it pokes out the side quite a bit.

It would be cut back, it wouldn't stick out that much at all. Needs a lot of modifying and prettying up.

I will see what I can do Danny...next year of course

I also do the European Le Man Series for Greaves Motorsport (Nissan) and Status GP

Last year we did the World Touring Car for Chevrolet and we are hoping to do the same for a different team in 2014!! I meant 2013

I do love travelling around!! I get to collect quite a bit of **** too...I mean souve nirs lol

Speaking of which, off to France in the morning, just to deliver some stuff for Deutch Bank. Giving the Fabia a good long trip out

You have the best job EVER!!! Was gutted for plato this year - my favorite driver of all time.

Looking forward to see how you get on with the splitter... interesting idea!! keep us posted!!

He did well, it wasn't his fault about the weather and the car. I don't think they even had a car two months before the season started.

It will take a while, trying to find the time for the front end.but it could, could, look good!

That seems the wrong way around to me. Possibly flip it over?
