Adobe DRM on ebooks

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone can help me with a DRM problem I'm having with my ebooks. I've built up quite a library of books - bought mainly from WH Smith and then Kobo. I read them on a Sony PRS e reader. All works well. Or did. I changed ISP last year and unfortunately the email address I used to register my adobe digital ID is no longer valid. Kobo and others use ADobe DRM to verify youv'e bought the books.

All was well until I forgot the password for my adobe ID and so I can't buy any new books - or rather I can buy them I just can't read them.

So I've been wrangling with adobe customer services to try to get it into their heads that a) I've forgotten the password and B) I can't do a reset as I can't access the email account oh and c) even when they reset it and mail me the link to the new password I can't see that due to point B).

So I've got little option but to try to remove the DRM from these books (and set up a new Adobe ID for future purchases). There are tools available but they seem to want $40 or so. when I try to use the rial versions they fail to convert my ebooks.

Has anyone got any experience of these tools? Or better still got any free ideas for how to resolve this problem?

Cheers in advance!

I've a thing for removeing passwords from pdfs at work I'll try to find it tomorrow.

Adobe are total tools. even when you spends thousands with them.

You have to give the Adobe droids the information in the right order...

Tell them you are trying to change your Adobe ID (let them take you through the procedure and only then tell them you can't log in).

Hmmm. They've told me I can't change the id. Will try again tomorrow (5th attempt)

I'm sorry to hear that.

I think you need to backup your adobe ebooks .

just search the "epubsoft" on google, and you will find a good tool to backup your books.
