"GOOD NEWS...!" letter from dealer

Featured Replies

This morning received a letter from dealer basically asking me to telephone and to quote the given reference number for further info. At foot of page in heavy type "You are a nominated customer requested by Skoda UK from our existing records". Reads like an Octavia 2 clear out marketing ploy. Anyone else had such a missive.

From about every dealer I've ever visited, plus every estate agent (houses just like yours are in demand), insurers, credit cards. Got one at work this morning from a pen test company "we're not offering this to everyone". Blah blah blah.

It's probably #8 in the big book of selling stuff.

If you're looking to buy it might be worth giving them a phone but you'll have to haggle just the same. If they start the crap just tell them to stop bull****ting. a decent salesman will get the point that you want straight answers, a crap one will just keep going with the "the deal is for today only....", "only £50 a week (unspoken - 'for 20yr at 25%')" rubbish they always spout.

The people that fall for this type of marketing are the same people who send money to bogus individuals to 'claim their free prize'.

It's just a sales letter. I work for a car dealership, you basically ring up, make an appointment for who knows what, then turn up at the garage none the wiser. If you want to buy a new car you might get a good deal, if you don't, just bin it
