Locking valve caps

Featured Replies

A colleague at work mentioned to me that you cannot have locking valve caps if you have tyre pressure monitors, any truth in this rumour. I personally cannot see what the conflict would be.

The tyre pressure monitor on the fabia works using the turning of the tyre and if its different to rest of tyres it is shows up. It doesnt measure the actual psi of the tyre, this can be done using an aftermarket piece of kit that have monitors on the valve.

Willie, Or me.

Asking him the full story Jackanory & where he heard/read it & what type of TPMS he is speaking about,

& the reason for this being the case.

Different kinds of TPMS tho.

On a Fabia there is nothing on the wheel or in the tyre, its is the sudden change in the circumference of the tyre that sets off the warning.

(It needs to be set by the driver when tyres and pressures are chosen for the car)

Other systems have valves and sensors on wheels and inside tyres and read the pressure or change in pressure and even the heat in tyres.
