Rear Seat Removal

Featured Replies

Is there an easy way to remove the rear seat squabs on a FL Octy? I need to do this quite often to get a flat floor in rear (carrying a model railway since you ask!) and find the retaining clips sooooo hard to undo and engage. Ive even reverted to a 2lb hammer at times. Grateful for any tips

Just in case you have not already done so I assume you fold the rear seat base forward before lowering the back sections? The step that already exists in the floor your stuck with I think.

Seat bases folded forward first would give you this

Seat bases left in normal position obviously leaves it like this

Yes. But when the seat is folded forward it restricts the length of flat floor available, hence me asking about removing the part you sit on

before dropping the seat back. I have real problems though unclipping the seat.

The raised floor at about £100 is a bit steep! I was though thinking of a piece of MDF cut to fit and blocked up to level it!

In that case using the search function on the forum answers the question a few times

It will take a bit of pulling but the seat cushions are only attached to the loop that is attached to the floor of the car by a hook. All you have to do is pull on one of the hooks and then slide the seat cushion sideways about an inch or two and they will come out easy.

Easy peasy just push clips towards the center 2012-06-24165212.jpg

Lift the seat base from the back and move it to the upright position, then you will see what looks like springs, just push on them where they are attached to the floor, and they will come undone in seconds

Frankly, easier said than done! I can't move the b----y things! That's my problem!

Have you pulled the base upright first then jiggle side to side, this might loosen it, mine was 5 years old when I took mine out so yours should be easier if anything

Lift the seat base into the position as it is in picture 1 , without dropping the seat back rest, Wrap your hand around the spring and wiggle it sideways the end of the spring slots into the bracket.

To lift the seat base put one hand on the front edge and the other into the join where the seat belt buckles are lift the front edge and then pull the seat base up from the back
