Front passenger side speaker vibration

Recommended Posts

I've noticed a couple of threads about this but can't seem to find any conclusion.

The large front speaker in the passenger door on my 12 plate Monte TDi rattles/vibrates at certain low frequencies. As it is only one side I know i'm not distorting the amp and it's been doing it since day one so I know I haven't 'blown' the speaker.

I mentioned it to Carrs when I took the car in for it's first service but neither of us had the time to properly investigate it on that occasion.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so, was it sorted (by the dealer or yourself) satisfactorily?

Cheers

Martin

How long have you had the car? My 12 plate rattled like hell until only recently when it sorted itself.

After speaking to a friend who's an audio specialist, he said even speakers need to bed in, something to do with the material connecting the cone to the chassis of the speaker.

It could be faulty speaker, door card or other trim vibrating or something else loose, take the door card off and see if you can still hear the vibrating, or put your hand on the door card at different places, if it stops, likely to be just vibration. just put some some deadening on.

Since your car is under warranty i'd ask the dealer

Since the middle of June but I've already done 10k miles. How long did yours take for the problem to dissapear? Mine seems to be getting worse if anything :(

I've had mine since June also but only done 4000 miles, it was only a month ago it sorted itself.

By the sounds of it a trip back to the dealer might be the best idea.

Mine rattle like a boss. In fact my whole car does...

A trip to the dealer however may help as they could grease up the door latches, which they did for me, in June, reducing cabin rattles significantly. Didn't last very long though. :/

Best of luck :)

Mate dont even bother the dealer with rattling speakers. Trust me they all do it.

Whilst the Fabia is well screwed together, the cheap plastics used on the door cards and lack of sound deadening do nothing for the accoustics, the speakers just rattle the doors to hell.

Its a shame as the standard speaker gear in the car probably isnt all that bad, its what their bolted in and what surrounds them thats the problem.
