  1. Hi all I was wondering if it was possible to fit a new rear disc to my Fabia 3 Kombi without removing the caliper carrier/bracket? I have a rounded out bolt which i csmt remove myself. Cheers Martin

  3. Hi all I'm all. I'm looking for some uprated springs for my 2016 1.2 Tsi 110bhp estate. There seems to be 2 kits listed on the eibach website. The only difference I can see is that one is for front axle load of 960kg and the other 860kg (see image) Can anyone clarify? Many thanks Martin default.aspx.pdf
  4. Hi all I'd like to upgrade the springs on my Fabia estate, recently bought with PCP through a dealer. The question is: what, if any, springs can I fit without voiding the warranty or the PCP agreement? NB. My car was already built when I ordered it so I couldn't choose any factory fit options.   5. Thanks greenstripe. Sadly as I expected with the fogs then but I'm glad to hear that the MDI can be retrofitted as I rely on my USB drive full of music and podcasts during my long commute. £100 seems a bargain for my sanity!
  6. I've just ordered one in Silver! As I'm trading in my Monte Carlo I was slightly dissapointed to learn that the SE does not come with front foglights or the MDI and that I can't order any factory-fit options. Does anyone have a list of dealer-fit options for these? Cheers

  8. Alot of people missing the point here. If the weights were equally distributed left-to-right then you'd be okay to remove them (being mindful of the change in weight distribution and its possible effects when driving on the limit as some have mentioned) But, the fact that these weights are at one corner and only on a car with a particular engine must mean that they are there to balance out a corner weight imbalance caused by a packaging issue with the vRS engine or possible the engine and geabox assembly itself (ie. the weight is biased towards the front-right of the car). The diesel lump is a totally different engine so exactly the same imbalance is unlikely to occur . If they were equally spread left-to-right then knock yourself out and remove them, you may notice some benefit. But, as they are biased to one side, removing them will effectively just raise the spring rate on that corner (left rear) alone and effectively lower it on the diagonal corner (front right). sk4gw, all of what you say is true enough but i think you're missing the fact that the weights on the rear of the vRS are on the rear left corner not equally spaced. So, this is all about corner weights (ie. diagonal weight balance) not just front-rear balance. vRSy, adding a passenger would indeed change things but maybe not quite as you imagine. Again you need to consider what is happening at the opposing diagonal corner rather than just front to rear. As with all cars, particularly road-going ones, there is a compromise as the factory chassis engineers don't know how many passengers will or won't usually be in the car, the weight of the driver, how much crap they usually cart arouhd in the boot etc etc, so they have to strike a balance. A race car is always corner weighted with the driver in the car fully suited and booted. On the many occasions when we have corner weighted my race car this has always been the case. If someone, say 5kgs heavier than me, sat in the car when we were corner-weighting it, we would come up with different results and the car would need to be adjusted accordingly. In short, unless you think that having one spring effectively stiffer than the other three (or having one coilover spring platform higher than the other three) is a good idea, don't do it! If you want to change the understeer-oversteer balance of the car without changing any parts, the best way would be to adjust the wheel alignment and even playing with the tyre pressures can change things dramatically and for free!
  9. As the weights are biased towards one side, removing them to "improve handling" is totally counter-productive. They are there to balance out the corner weighting so removing them would have a very similar effect to putting a higher rate spring on that corner alone. Would that improve handling? Of course not, quite the opposite. If you had coilovers you'd be setting up your corner weights from scratch, in which case you could remove these weights before setting it up. But it makes no sense at all to do this with the standard suspension. For a fast road setup i'd go for some decent uprated springs and an uprated rear ARB and LEAVE THE WEIGHTS ALONE!
  10. Since the middle of June but I've already done 10k miles. How long did yours take for the problem to dissapear? Mine seems to be getting worse if anything :(
  11. I've noticed a couple of threads about this but can't seem to find any conclusion. The large front speaker in the passenger door on my 12 plate Monte TDi rattles/vibrates at certain low frequencies. As it is only one side I know i'm not distorting the amp and it's been doing it since day one so I know I haven't 'blown' the speaker. I mentioned it to Carrs when I took the car in for it's first service but neither of us had the time to properly investigate it on that occasion. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, was it sorted (by the dealer or yourself) satisfactorily? Cheers Martin
  12. I should point out that the figures I quoted I worked out from fuel receipts not what the trip tells me. I find this can vary alot with the trip dsiplay showing anything between 54 and 67.5mpg average after each commute. I should also point out that I don't try and hypermile it. I drive at the prevailing limit not 5-10mph below it and overtake where needed etc etc.
  13. I suspect he means when the fuel light comes on. In my experience it comes on when there's over a gallon still in the tank. My Monte TDi 105 has just passed 10,000 miles. Fill-to-fill I always get 55-57 mpg. That's a mixture of all road types (mainly A and B roads though) and i do over 100miles a day Monday to Friday.
  14. Big Jase: I'll check the PCD tonight. Thanks for the Lupo/Polo recommendation too. Fabia DMG: Sorry, I don't want to butcher brand new wheels. Unless you want a set of centre caps for £400 with a free set of wheels and tyres?
