Octy 2 vRS... Convince me why I should...

Featured Replies

If it works for you at the moment, I'd certainly try a Cayman. Like you say, in a couple of years you can go for an Octy when you need more space and practicality.

Just a thought :)

Have you tried an S3 at all yet? Just think if you're making a special trip, it's a bit of an effort if it'll be the first one you try.

I was lucky enough to be able to run a couple of lotus's before I had to get sensible - cost a bit to run but as some french bird once said; "je ne regrette rien"!

There was an 07 Cayman 2.7 I was looking at but Mrs Grr informs me it's a bit of a birds car

I'd prefer the 3.4 but there you go. The sticking point for me is although I'm sure I'd enjoy driving it.

I wouldn't want one on the drive if you see my point. What I mean is I think that it's a bit

of a statement car and it's a bit too posh for the area in which I live. I'd also rather have

a Porker garaged if I'm honest. I can debadge the S3 and then to an untrained eye

I've just got a plain old Audi A3 on the drive. I've heard from the Audi dealer

and await another call in the morning. The 12 months warranty approved used is

appealing and takes some of the worry out of buying a car which is expensive to fix.

This one is one lady owner job who's had from new and PX'd it against another newer S3.

FASH all the way and just serviced including Haldex. And definitely not 5 owners.

grr666,

I noticed the S3 was at west london Audi, not sure if you use pistonheads forum but there is a member on there " TVR1" who works at west london in sales, he might be of some help.

If not send me a pm with your requirements and i will ask at work to see if we have anything in stock or in group.

PM on the way

If you are changing the car again when kids come along then buy the car that you really want. You can worry about practical stuff later. The octy wouldnt be on my drive if a ididnt have a kid. I would be tempted by the cayman myself, then the S3 then maybe a fast beemer. Maybe a 330i rather than a 35i as i would imagine these are more reliable and probbaly sound sweeter.

The octy is a good value all rounder and shouldnt be a comparison for an S3 or cayman etc. Get the VRS when your sprogged up. I have always wanted a N/A 6 cyl car that i can get to sound better with a choice exhaust so for me definately a cayman. In fact i would probably take the beemer 130 or 330i before an S3 now i think about it. You can get a 330i for dirt cheap also.

Agree - you need to try a Cayman if you think it's a car for girls! :D

Boxster maybe attracts that image as for some reason that's a logical assumption if it lacks a permanent roof?! :wonder:

I'd ponder the Z4M as well - but it all depends what you want economy and running-cost wise.

Anymore news Gary?
