VCDS Roomster and 01771 - Control Module for Headlight Range (J431)

Featured Replies

A couple of years ago I jump stared my Roomster and as a result I get an error light on the dash saying there is a fault with the Headlight Range.

The problem is the Roomster isn't fitted with this module. (never got round to finding a solution)

It's been to the local Skoda garage and they can't clear the fault and Skoda haven't been any help.

I have the full Vag-Com software & lead so I'm hoping i can change a byte of data somewhere and clear the fault.

I appreciate I have probably corrupted the ECU but wondered if there was anyone out there with in depth knowledge on the ECU.

The car runs fine as It's done 150k Miles and the battery has been removed for a few days to make sure there is a proper reset on the ECU.

Any help gratefully recieved.

Rob

Try recoding the gateway with its present code, it will refresh the installation list, doing this has previously helped me cure 4 wheel drive faults in Fabia 1s.

Although I have the VCDS kit I've only dabbled, when I go to recode I get the following screen.

I thought I would get the Long Code option

Any thoughts?

Also I can't access the installation list?

Is this supported in all units?

As already said recode the gateway to the same code and it should reset it, you wont get long coding helper on this model as only short oodes are used. Just hover your mouse pointer over the coding number and the label file should open giving you coding options.
