12v amp feed

Featured Replies

So was all ready to wire up my sub and amp today and then realised where does the 12v feed go through the bulk head as i remember my brother struggling like hell on this one! If anyone knows, let me know

Thanks!

Do you really need to go directly to the battery? (never fitted an amp so I don’t know) as there is a ‘power block’ behind the trim above the drivers pedals:

i managed to get a 4awg amp cable though the bulkhead on the passengers side, but the hole i used was behind the airbox, i'll upload a picture later for you,

think thats where my brother went off when he did his, as i have got to take that down to find the Bluetooth control unit i might use that :)

Thanks everyone for the replies! i can now get on with it :)

Don't run a sub from that fuse panel - not idea for sustained high amps

4awg from battery, with a fast popping 150A fuse

Also allows for easier isolation during fitting or taking car to garage etc

+1

There is a wiring harness behind the black thing at side of strut that goes straight through into car behind glovebox without going up into the scuttle panel area, if its a vrs you may have to lift fusebox off bulkhead to gain access but thats not difficult

No way should you ever consider a reasonable sized amplifier from any of those 30A Unswitched terminals. Remember, they ALREADY have a lot of draw on them, and probably won't have enough left in reserve. Big amps (especially those running subs) will quite easily draw well in excess of 10A, not to mention the transient peaks.

Any decent amplifier should always have it's own dedicated feed, and it's own dedicated fuseholder.

as an alternative go from battery under car through boot floor rubber grommit, means you dont have to upset the delicate bungs, that so often leak once touched in the bulkhead, and no need to hide chunky cable under carpet and trim.

Theres a rubber elbow if u look down past the air box

Im assuming they all have it, u can get it into the car that way , it comes out behind gloves box :)

How safe is that?

Well i only ran thw wire today went up the N/S ready to go though to the battery, but if i can find out what this elbow bit is, i may use that instead looks much easier!

Its doesnt block it all, and it goes directly to the passanger footwell whatever it is lol

:D

It never caused him any issues ?

Was just a idea.... The cable popped up inside

:D that'll do lol

where about does it end up in the footwell?

safe, as long as you attach it to the underside of the car properly, you could also put it in a flexi cable conduit to make it more discreet and protect it.
