well sold the octy vrs lastnight,,:( kinda felt a bit of regret as she drove away with her new owner ...anyways,,the question i ,,what next ???????? wrx, evo, audi s3 ? or a mark 2 vrs ???? ;) anyways just want to say thanks to all ye guys for tips, parts and advice while iv been hereon briskoda,,ps I MIGHT BE BACK SOON ;)

S3 shouldn't even be on the same list as 335i, assuming the 3 series is E90-E93 series...

And if you do go for the BMW, GET THOSE POXY RUNFLATS OFF!!!! (Partially because they cost a fortune to replace, but mostly because they're sheer crap)

I don't think you'd find a lotus Carlton in the same price bracket as any of these on the list.

Evo 6 would be my choice out of all these, unless of course you can stretch to a lotus Carlton then its a no brainer :)

however the evo 6 is gonna be a better car, it just is, vauxhall just can't make cars that handle properly, the evo 6 is a phenominal machine out the box with huge tuning power and loads of backup and support as well as a huge tuning/parts market unlike the carlton.

Its like an integrale imo, one of those cars i have wanted since they came out, but i doubt i will ever own as the idea is just better than the reality, they are expensive, unrealiable, delicate and hard to work on...

still i love them, but i will alway go back to the golf rallye/audi ur quattro as my 80/90s must have cars, they are german and just better:>

Thats funny, I sold my Evo 6 last year and bought an Octavia vRS yesterday :D

on a serious note, they are not comperable cars, the vrs as a daily taking into account running costs ie fuel and servicing is going to be a winner!

Maybe a little mad yes.

But as you say the vRS is a cheaper car to run (I paid less for my vRS than I did for a clutch on my last Evo) lol.

as said not a fair comparison, as a daily the vrs makes way more sense, as a fast road car/track car, money no object evo 6 all the way!!!

To be fair, i've had a couple of Evo's over the last few years (2 Evo 5 GSR's, Evo 6 GSR, 2 Evo 6 RS2's and an Evo 1 RS).

I had to put a clutch in everyone of them except the 2 Evo 5's as I didn't keep either of them for more than a few weeks.

There were all used as daily runabouts, and other than clutch's and fuel they were pretty cheap to run (except the last 6 RS2 that I had, as I couldn't stop messing with it, and by the time I sold it, it was running around 730bhp @ flywheel and would do about 100 miles on £60 - £65 of v-power).

I never seriously tracked any of them, as I was too worried about braking them. The Evo 1 RS got tracked a few times though.

But Evo's are not that expensive to service and maintain if your able to do it yourself.

Now i've moved on, and bought the vRS with the intension of using it as a track toy, but for the moment it is going to be used as a daily runabout too.

well you are our forum come-to guy for evo knowledge, 703 bhp, lol, awesome, pure awesome!

100 miles to a tank...not awesome however!

Thought they had expensive servicing costs/requirements like every 4/6k, but as you said, i would do myself if i ever had one so guess other than oil/filter cost thats not an issue.

They do have 4500 mile service intervals, mainly due to the AYC (active yaw control) system, and thats what makes them more expensive to service than other performance cars (subaru's for example), but if you use a specialist for this then it's not so bad, (or even better buy an RS / GT model and you won't have AYC instead you get a propper LSD and no computer aids (or ABS)) :D
