Currently Carless

Featured Replies

So I had to get a lift into work this morning as I've currently not got a car.....

It's in the garage having something(s) fitted ;)

I've had the bits in my lounge for a couple of weeks.

I wonder what it is?

After burners and heat seeking missiles?? ;)

Or RARB and Xenons??

Heated seats?

Hopefully I shall have lovely toasty warm leather seats tonight :)

Haha.

I cheated and looked at your recent posts which included you asking about heated seat switches.

Lovely. Been ages since I had heated seats (Felicia L&K) and really liked them. Was lovely on a cold morning as they heated quicker than the car heater and made you feel really nice and warm.

Cheater!!

Yeah, it takes so long to warm a diesel up it's annoying sometimes.

I bought a heated seat cover last year that plugs in the lighter. Best £12 I've spent.

you just bought the elements or the whole seat?

Elements and OE switches.

I'm hoping that it looks and functions as if it's original.

Any other things happening???

No reason why not if you have the OEM elements and switches.

Just in time for winter eh?!

My thought to get quicker heat up times was to install one of those PTC electric heaters (an OEM one). 1000w electric heater to give instant heat through the vents.

Lot a work getting the heater matrix etc out to fit it and the extra wiring etc.

Who's fitting it the seat heaters btw?

The elements aren't OE, as they're 3x the price of the ones I've bought.

They should in theory work exactly the same though.

If it all works, I'll put it all up in a big post, as if you can fit it yourself, it's pretty cheap.

It's all being fitted by a local car electric place that do dvds in headrests etc. I don't trust myself to pull my leather seats apart and have them back together again in a day.

I've discussed fitting aux heaters with Rob a few times, and we both figured it's going to be a lot of work, and you'd still have to wait for that though. Heated seats are much quicker and warm you directly :)

Heated seats = free laxative?

Seriously? :p

Couldn't survive winter on leather seats if they weren't heated tbh. Nothing makes a cold miserable winter morning better than being hugged by a warm peeled cow  .

A guide would be amazing! I need heated seats in my life.

hmmmm heated seats!! Would hate to be without them now

+1

Would be interested to know how much its cost you all in all!

One of the reasons that I bought my Fabia back in 2001..........standard heated seats............VERY luxery back then on such a small/cheap car!!!!!!

B)

Any word?

Would be very interested to hear about this actually, as my heated seat cover literally arrived today! I couldn't stand another winter on those god damn awful cold leather seats!!

I've seen some kits from abroad on eBay. Is it just a case of taking the cover off the seat and then inserting the elements correctly? Wiring under carpet to centre console to be wired up to OE switches assuming you can get them? Is the wiring loom for heated seats there as standard or do you need to wire them in separately?

As much as the heated cover is going to be nice in the mornings, it does feel cheap and I don't sit 'in' the seat as much anymore.... So would be very interested in doing this if it was viable to get it like OEM.

Well it's still there as they underestimated how long it would take to strip off the leather and get it back on properly :(

Should be done by tomorrow, although the final cost is yet to be announced...

Being without wheels sucks a really big one.

It's even worse when you have the money burning a hole

in your pocket but can't find what you want. :(
