I use a combination of all 3.Adaware SE, Spybot SnD and Microsoft Anti-Spyware.

Not free for long though by the looks of this:

To be honest it was only a matter of time.

They couldn't afford to ship it with the OS as they'd run into trouble like they did with Media Player and IE.

If you are utterly hate crappy spywares etc, use Hitman Pro it uses a wide range of programs to get rid of all possible spyware and adware.

The programs that it uses are:

Ad-Aware- SE

Spy Sweeper

Just had a look at your site - Is that an intentional or a typo? ;)

Hi

The nearest equivalent to Spybot S&D is PestPatrol which is not free, but you can load on a 30 day trial and see what it finds (which for both is different from what Adaware finds). If hitman.pro, as recommended above, does take in all of those things, then that sounds good to me.

I find it difficult to understand how your Spybot S&D can itself have been "got" unless you haven't loaded it properly? You could try TrendMicro's free online Housecall scan, which can pick up what others miss (takes a while to run though). Otherwise you're probably looking at other payware (eg Sophos or Panda).

Me too. Each seems to find something the others have missed.

I got hit last night by something that installed nail.exe in the C:\windows folder

Every time I deleted it it came back - Took some getting rid of that bugger

It was something called pouler, couldn't clear it, it just kept populating Mozilla and IE until the PC stopped, tried 4 spywere and 3 anti virus checks, none could clear it although Avast got closest. Ended up reformating, thanks for the assistance.

Craig.

Useful tip...run your removal programmes in safe mode.

Better still, have Nod32 running in real time(latest very newest edition does anti-spyware etc), Regdefend and Process Guard, (oh and regprotector too)

With these babies, nothing can write to your system unless you actually give permission.
