check engine light while driving and now the car runs rough under 2000 rpm

Featured Replies

Hi

I was out driving when suddenly the check engine came on, I drove the car for about 50 km to get home,

The car feels sluggish until I get over 2000 rpm then its pulling like normal

when i let the car idle it drops down to 700/800 rpm and the engine runs rough and makes the car vibrate a lot.

when I release the throttle at junctions and roundabouts, it feels like the car will stop

When the car idled rough and vibrated I disconnected the maf sensor and the car increased rpm to about 900 rpm and the enginge runs smooth

things I've checked and replaced

cleaned the Throttle position sensor

cleaned the maf and the connector

replaced the engine temp sensor

replaced plugs and coil

still behaves strangely

Please help me i cant afford to bring it to the stealership

engine is the 1,6 petrol bfq model

Get a Fault code checker on it. You can go through the list of things replaceing them not fixing it, Get it scanned it will give you a better idea of whats up.

First find someone with vag com and scan it for codes. The fact that you disconected the MAF and it runs better tels me that the maf sensor is broken.

Also check the battery as mine did this sort of thing
