I've had winter tyres and for the few times I used them (or needed to use them), these are perfect. They are also way better than winter tyres in certain conditions as confirmed by friends who have them. This response for starters:

"FWIW we run our V70 on winter tyres (Bridgestones) and last 2 years we've managed to get to points where the winter rubber gives up. Inclines on ice/packed snow for example (fresh snow is fine). Each time, popping the snow socks on we've just driven up the slope like we're in the dry. Amazing things."
