Number Plate Lighting

Featured Replies

Hi All

Ive just installed some LED number plate lights i saw recommeded on here on my 60 plate DSG VRS and all looks good.

Problem i now have is MFD is stating `check number plate lights` and have an orange warning light permenantly on dash for faulty light.

Anyone know how i can clear this or why its complaining please?

Regards

Matt

Just had a thought.

Could it be a polarity issue? May try turning one or both of em round tomorrow to see if it helps.

Too cold now tonight lol.

Hi mate

Cheers for the reply but these are the exact ones i bought using the exact same link from this forum!

One does seem slightly brighter than the other. Will probably try turning that one round first to a) see if it goes as bright as the other and B) gets rid of the warning.

You need to tell the car that it has LED number plate lights using VCDS, might only work on a 2012 car.

With respect, had you read the thread that was kindly posted because you couldn't be bothered to search, you would have seen that people have had the same issue.

Thanks for that TeMpTed, really helpful, i was hoping info on this post may actually help others.

Anyway i have a update.

I tested changing back one of the bulbs to original and the Dash Warning Light goes away, however it doesnt matter which side the LED is in the issue remains.

I will try now and do a more thorough search on this and other web sites / forums and if i find any useful information i will post.

Thanks for all the comments so far, its appreciated.

The post has pretty much all you need, it would appear that the new controller has an LED option in the new version of VCDS. Not sure if this option appears in other controllers, if not then it is not possible. Only option is huge resistive loads as detailed in another post.

The link is useful.

Doesnt work on a 59 plate, might only be 12 plates that it works on.

Although I agree members should use the search function, there is a polite way of suggesting it.

I think for older FL's it will have to be a wire a resistor job.
