just thought i would introduce myself. I have just brought my first Skoda, an Octavia VRS 1.8t 02. Very impressed so far. quickish, good on fuel and generally good fun to drive.

The only prob is the car doesnt idle to well. Unplugged the maf and runs fine. picking up a new one form Euro car parts so hope this fixes. Going to replace the vacuum hoses . Am i right in thinking they are 3mm???

thanks for the welcomes. still loving the car,

realized it wasnt getting up to temp, mainly sitting at 55, fitted new thermostat and cts this evening. all good now. Not to bad a job really thanks god i had my trusty Bacho 1/4 socket set.

Update

plugged in diagnostic tool today and got error codes 17705 and 17704 both coolant issues. probably due to the thermostat being faulty. now fixed. also got the code for maf low voltage,16464 i think. fitted new maf. cleared codes, ran car and re-checked no errors found. Mpg much better now also. was getting 33mpg now getting on same run achieving 38.5mpg. very happy.

Now got to sort vibration when breaking and over 70mph. check brake disc for warpage and wheel balancing.
