Goodbye Skoda

Featured Replies

Well, after my well documented issues with my car and subsequent failures this weekend I am calling time on my Skoda ownership...

My requirement of a cheap, RELIABLE but fun motor has clearly not been met and I'm not willing to run the risk of being stuck at the roadside (again).

I'd like to say the ownership has been a pleasure but I'd be lying...

I'll still be on the forum but in a yet undecided marque...

Sorry to hear you have had such bad luck !

Can't say its a surprise Damo

You've been more than patient and i'd have lost faith a long time ago.

I trust/hope/pray that whatever you replace it with treats you a whole lot better

Yep I'm not in the least surprised Damo.

Good luck getting a decent replacement!

Did you chop it in or did SUK do you a refund?

I'm not expecting a refund from Skoda.

Because I don't deal with my supplying dealer my rejection would need to go through them. To do this they would then need to attempt all the fixes already attempted.

So I'm trying to trade it in for an {unnamed new car}.

Just waiting for it to fail on my way home so I can get Skoda Assist to it...

What are the problems you have encountered if you don't mind me asking?

Oil consumption

Failing coil packs (all 4 seperately on one day) and then had another fail this morning

Burnt out spark plugs

Spark plug missing a tip (never found)

Gearbox part failure (don't know what it was)

Jesus, no wonder you're unhappy.

Why does it have to be the supplying dealer? Either way they've done the work and even Skoda can't seem to fix it!

No wonder your selling up, I thought I had problems when my engine & gearbox was replaced then a coil pack bit the dust knackering a spark plug along with it :|

hang around Damo, its a good forum, u will still be welcome at meets in another marque ;)

Holy Shi*, i thought the VRS was the top of the tree in regards the Fabia..... that is shocking.

You have had worse issues than my Fabia, I can understand why you are ditching it. Good luck with your new purchase.

Not good news, can see why you want to change.

Thoughts on the replacement yet?

Can't say I blame you mate.

Tried an S3?

I'd still push for a replacement, what have you got to loose? You were more than saint like patient, gave them every possible opportunity to fix the problems yet still the car is not working, simple as that. I know of cases where people got cars replaced with far fewer problems and after much shorter period of time - unfortunately all of them involved paying a solicitor to write a good letter. Afterall Consumer Protection Act will be on your side no sweat! SUK will be falling over itself to give you a replacement car!

Failing that...

I was told that 2.0l naturally aspirated Toyota Auris manual is a great car. Very low fuel consumption, good power and will be here with you till you are too old to drive ;)

Cant blame you damo, i should be changing when the warrentys up in a few months

I fancy something that drinks oil(i feel left out since my vrs doesnt).......rotary time ;)

Swap you, we wanted the green one, ours is race blue and you won't feel left out I can assure you

Shame to see you go, as others stated it's no wonder you are dropping the car. Wish you all the best with your next ride. :)
