Front wishbone torque setting

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me the correct torque settings/torquing technique for the seven bolts that attach the front wishbones - the three to the ball-joint, the three that attach the aluminium block to the subframe and the horizontal one thorough the bush at the front? Damned annoying that there isn't a single Haynes manual covering the petrol variants - do most people simply buy the diesel one and a Golf petrol one, or is there an alternative that doesn't involve having to own two service manuals?

Thanks.

the three to the ball-joint - 20 Nm + 90°

the 2 that attach the aluminium block to the subframe 50 Nm + 90° + 1 to the body M12X1,5X75 70 Nm + 90°

horizontal one thorough the bush at the front 70 Nm + 90°

Good luck!

And if you have disturbed them you will need a proper geometry check doing to get the camber and caster correct. A 'Kwik Fit' alignment will only set the toe correctly

Can anyone confirm the torque for the longer horizontal bolt at the front of the wishbone is actually 70Nm + 90°?  Everywhere Ive managed to find it in writting states 70Nm + 180° unless I'm looking at the wrong bit.
