Front mudflaps ...long term mud trap?

Noticed on numerous times giving the Yeti a good clean that a fair amount of wet mud gets trapped

behind the front mud flaps adjacent to outer body paintwork.

Doesn't appear to be a problem with rears as they are against the rear plastic bumper and unlikely to cause corrosion.

They mud gets trapped against the wheel arch edge and is revealed if you peel back the flap all the way down where plastic meets front wing paint. Appears as a 1/4" band of mud running the length of the flap which is easily wiped out by a damp cloth. No need to remove mud flaps to clean it out and it just springs back in place.

Long term wet mud (and soon road salt) touching paint could easily lead to corrosion so I routinely

clean it out.

I have had mine on for 16 months now and when I look on the side of the wheel arch where the mud flap touches, they have marked the paint, looks worse because my car is white!

I am sure if they are left on there will be no issue.

I wonder if you filled the gap with some plumbers mate (its a sticky non setting putty like substance) that would stop the problem. Cant look at mine at the moment SWMBO has run off with it to Bmth :-(

lost one of the retaining screws a few months ago, from near side front on LHD - the rear plastic "keeper" that the screw runs into must have broken

It's a main dealer and I know I'm in France - but guess what - "we'll have to order that part in for you sir, just don't keep it in stock" ......... but covered under warranty as they fitted the flaps
