Another new vRS

Featured Replies

I finally collected it on Wednesday. It's another week 42 build car with the CTHE engine and with an engine sticker that says "8/10/12 9824"...whatever that means.

It's done less than 100 miles so far,so not much to say,but I'm very pleased with it so far.

The strange thing is that the things that impress are not at all the hot hatch things.

Smooth quiet engine and quick-shifting box, suble ride, more comfort than sporty hardness, very spacious for it's external size. The point is that it does meet my needs which are for a compact and roomy four door but with plenty of power and decent handling.

The handling...not really pushed it so far but it's clear that the comfort factor built in will harm the ultimate handling ability. The steering is rather light and lacking feel and it's, as expected, an understeerer. The Eibach springs and a rear arb will probably get added next Spring.

I don't know whether more castor (is there a Whiteline kit ?) would improve the steering feel and weight.

All in all a very, very nice little machine for only around £15k...as long as it stays reliable!!!

I'll not bother with pics,it's white with black roof and wheels and there are plenty of views of this colour scheme on here already. Quite attractive, but a bit "young" for me,but it's what the family voted for.

The extras added are cruise, climate control, sunroof, armrest, glasses holder and 5 year warranty.

The tyres are Dunlop Sport Maxx.

OK,so a couple of question about the new machine.

I thought the service schedule was 10k miles/annual,and the service book has been completed as "next service 10k miles,or 5/11/13...however,the vehicle data sticker at the front of the book contains the code "Q 16",which is referred to later in the book and it says "according to the interval display (and at the latest after 2 years)"

Since the service display is set to 1 year,I'm thinking it's 1 year for the vRS and the 2 years is for other Fabia models?

Also, how do you change the digital speed display on the dash from kph to mph? I've scrolled through the menus but can't see how, although the handbook suggests you can.

Thanks.

I asked the supplying dealer about changing the kph display to mph but he said it was something to do with European legislation having to display it constantly. Apparently you can change it to read mph but will need to delve into the car's ecu, there might be a thread on here along those line.

These days I don't notice the kph display at all.

I think the kph has to be there because it's not on the dials, might be wrong though.

Now that it is there to keep what ever EU rule might cover it being available, it can quite happily be gone in the UK if you are not going anyplace else.

Or change it back if you were.

Not required for a UK MOT or anything else really.

I quite like it being there, i have the speedo for looking at the MPH's.

You need someone with the cable and software to change the cars settings to Australian then you get the digital speedo, like sk4gw said above I'm quite happy looking at the usual dial

There's a thread about it here along with some of the other things you can change as well as some youtube videos

Wait, wait. You guys have kph on the digital speedo, and mph on the analogue?

Crazy. Maybe you should go metric and join the twenty-first century.
