Modifications for Octavia VRS estate

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I am a VRS newbie and have just brought myself a VRS estate 03 plate. I am planning on making some improvements to the car, but am new to the VRS world. Can you give me some ideas on different things I can do and in what sort of order I should do them. I have been looking at remap options (Shark) but want to know if I should make other improvements prior to this.

Regards

Tom

Might want to look at the handling first. Understeer is usually pretty bad.

The classic is a rear sway bar (which many here will call anti-roll bar, which it isn't really...)

Personally I don't like the fit of the Whiteline, but it is the cheapest option available, just a bit of a bodge mounting system IMO.

Neuspeed or Eibach are a better fit, but a more expensive option. Couple a 28mm rear bar with a uprated front anti-roll bar from an R32 Golf (and bigger ARB bushes to fit) and you'll have a really solid, balanced motor, that will respond well to being pushed harder by it's perkier remap.

decent tyres first off, then a rarb as demonufo suggests, then dogbone mount, then remap.

depends how far you want to go tom?

I definately want to improve the handling/brakes etc of the car along with power. Thanks for the advice guys.

then add some fast road pads to your shopping list

add a nice map ;-) your in kent so you have w8 on your door step give rob a call he will look after you

or you can travel to me ;-)

if you want inspiration look in the mk1 project thread you have daves black estate or gee's silver estate ;-)

or you can come round to my garage (gaff), i am cheaper...than the others ;) but i can recommend clive for the mapping!

Yeah, As Clive said, you have Mine, Gee's and Rob's estates, Plus a couple of others that have started. Look at it this way, pretty much anything that fits the saloon will fit ours just when it comes to coilovers they are very specific, so cant get away with that one.

I have a WHiteline RARB on mine, set on hole 2 and it's like a go kart now. But do have coilovers on there too. I have/had before turbo went pop about 240 on stage 2 shark remap, bloody mental is all i will say! if going to go that far, factor in a diff, Peloquin/wavetrac. I don't have one, which makes it more fun! But looking into it.

Defo Decent tyres, best to hunt forum for that as there have been many, many threads on that.

Also Welcome to the forum and the Rise Of The ESTATES!

The 2 threads peeps have mentioned or

http://www.pimpmyskoda.co.uk/

plenty to see on there :)

Yes plus this man, how could I forget. very useful for how to guides, have used a couple myself.

Thanks for the info guys, this might be a silly question but.... From checking the service history log today I have noticed the tooth belt was done at 48,000 miles but the water pump has not been replaced. Is it possible to change the water pump without doing the toothbelt? If so is it a big job??

i'd just wait until next service interval and do it then
