What chance the new CR185 for the Yeti?

Featured Replies

I'd bet most of the 170's already have 181bhp! ;-) Given time it will happen as I doubt they'd keep producing two almost identicle engines with such similar outputs across the group but Skoda never get there first! :(

I'd not even considered that...

So the Seat CR181 might actually have 192?? Or do we think that maybe VW is now quoting more accurate power figures?

Hope so ... now on my third 170 CR engined car I NEED a change!! Other makers are catching up ... time for Skoda to lift their game.

What would be nice is the option of a higher output engine and six-speed manual with a 2-wd drivetrain. I had a TdiPD 130 Golf, with a six-speed manual 'box prior to the Yeti, and would have happily paid extra for a CR140 and six-speeder if it had been available as 2-wd, but the only option was the CR110 and five-speed. Whilst the CR engine's technical improvements mean the heavier/bulkier Yeti is better on fuel at low speeds, the older PD engine in the Golf was better on a run at speed. Overall average is about the same, so I mustn't grumble too much I suppose...

+1 on the 2wd preference

But I would suggest aerodynamics as the cause for the latter - it's unlikely that a ~15% efficiency improvement (as I've seen claimed for these new engines) will overcome that!

I really liked the 115PD engine on my golf, dealer told me that newer emission targets led to them being dropped although he was very enthusiastic about them.
