Heater Blower Resistor - Warranty

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had my Heater Blower Resistor replaced by a Skoda garage last year after it only started working on fan speed 4 but now the same has happened again.

I had it replaced on 07/11/11. Is there any chance i'll be able to claim under Skoda parts warranty or will they claim it's now over 12 months, even though it's only 5 days??

Can always ask, chances are the blower motor isn't quite as free as it should be. In so, causing the resistor to overheat and be faulty.

I think I'd ask nicely, if this had been a paid repair the parts replaced would have been covered by Skoda two year parts warranty. As it was replaced under the vehicle warranty the parts will only be covered for the unexpired balance of the vehicle warranty. It's arguable that they didn't effect the repair properly as they should probably have changed the blower motor. These resistors have been blowing for years - VAG should have got a grip on their quality control isses long ago but have failed to do so in so many cases. All depends on what your goodwill is worth to the dealer

It wasn't done under vehicle warranty, it was a paid repair, so hopefully will be covered. I'll ring the garage later today.

Replacement Parts Warranty.

All Skoda original replacement parts carry a warranty for a period of two-years/unlimited mileage from the date of purchase. Items with warranties in excess of two years will be advised to you at the time of purchase. The two-year warranty does not apply to parts fitted under the terms of the vehicle warranty, which are warranted for the remaining period of the vehicle warranty.

Thanks.

That means i've got another year left on the warranty then. :)

If the 2 year rule didn't apply, I reckon it failed just before the one year anniversary. That would be my take ;)

Bit O/T, but I'll ask. Last year ,I had cambelt and waterpump replaced .(paid for). Dealer said there was a one year warranty. Does this mean I've got a two year warranty on belt/pump by Skoda, in place of dealer's one year one /
