Samsung Galaxy S2 Official Android 4.0.3 Update

Featured Replies

Just in case anyone else with a Galaxy S2 is or was in the same boat as me still on Android 2.3 and didn't realise there was an official update.

I like my S2 a lot and would love an S3 but main thing drawing me to it was being stuck on Android 2.3. I have searched the forums and not seen a hint of an official update and nothing on the phones own software update check. All I have generally found is rooted phones and custom builds etc. I whacked the phone into a new computer it hasn't been on before wanted to grab the new episode of Homeland to watch (in work) and it wouldn't work so I downloaded the software "Kies" from Samsung's site as it would have any drivers needed, it worked fine but told me there was a FW update available :D :D :D even though on the phones own software update thing it doesn't come up so I clicked on "hell yeah" and 20 min later ish I am all sorted on Android 4.0.3 a lot better a little smoother and more of the newer apps compatible. It has been out for over 6 months but I didn't realise just posting in case it can be of help to anyone.

Now I read online a news article from 5 days ago that Android 4.1 is coming out shortly for the S2 its like having a new phone again almost a year on.

Now back to Homeland S02E07 :)

Most S2s should be on 4.0.4 by now as it was released to fix some of the battery issues on 4.0.3

Might be worth checking again...

mine's on 4.0.4 - vodafone released it a couple of weeks back

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dont say that! lol Will have a butchers cheers. 4.1 soon should be fun will sit back and see what people experience with that. I dropped my S2 last week on a compressed concrete floor....... so it at just over 10 months old has its first battle scars :( When I went to pick it up I was thinking "please be smashed so I can just buy an S3" hehe

Would it not be better to buy the s3 and sell (rather than break) the s2?:-)
