Suddenly no longer able to listen to voice messages on mobile

Featured Replies

10 year old Siemens C35i which was operating fine until recently on Pay-As-You-Go has suddenly got problems with incoming voice messages. You get an indication that there's a message there to recover but when you go to retrieve the phone connects and all you get is static. I've checked that divert is on and set to the message centre number and that listening volume on the speaker is set to max. But nothing. I further checked that incoming messages are being left in readable state in the account. Plenty of credit on the phone and normal phoning is OK, but texting playing up.

This seems to have coincided with the MSP unilaterally delisting the phone from my web-based account leaving only my more recently purchased BB Curve.

Any idea what's going on ?

Strange that the audio only malfunctions on message retrieval. I've read on the web that some of this model had audio problems, caused by poor soldering on a couple of capacitors, but that caused across-the-board loss of audio.

Looks like I have to get a cheapo knocking around PAYG phone - I wonder if I can transfer the number and avoid the nause of updating all the accounts where I used its number as a point of contact ?

Its a bit annoying as its got £25 worth of credit on it, which I presume, that I will be unable to transfer to the Curve now.
