Radio not working properly!

Featured Replies

Hi,

Got a problem with a standard original built-in radio. Its a Skoda Fabia 2001 with a Music System 402 in it. Radio use to work fine but then slowly kept flashing 'tape' like it was trying to play a tape but didn't have a tape in it! Use to just do it a bit but now is unusable as keeps flashing between the word 'tape' and the name of the station it is on so quickly that no sound comes out! Don't know if its a fault switch or something? Anyone know of a way to stop it or maybe disconnecting the tape bit so only the radio works??

What are these "tapes" you talk of? Are they like fabled VHS cassettes I've heard about? :)

I'd imagine for the cost of fixing the issue inside your radio you'd probably be better off ripping it out and putting in an aftermarket CD player.

Have you tried repeatedly plonking a tape into it and removing it? Reads like a failed switch or sensor or something's got a bit grubby in there.

Don't spend too long on it though. £50-£80 would get pretty good replacement and probably USB or ipod connectivity too.

J.
