Lofty's Cheapy Wheels, Daylight Pics

Featured Replies

Fitted them on the guys drive way and drove home, paid £65 for the wheels and tyres, staggered fit, fronts 7.5j 225/45/17, and rears 8j 235/45/17

Gives it a nice balance i think, handling improved and believe it or not they weigh half of my previous wheels and tyres, this i thought rediculous - power seems to have gone way up, and economy, is this placebo? Or do heavy wheels really hold a car back?

Anyhoo here they are in bad night photos sorry, not got my good camera on me, them fill the arches well too, i love a good offset

i see my nice tinted lights where are these wheels :DDDD

any extra weight the motor has to pull's gonna increase the fuel. Less to pull = less fuel used. I got some Octy L&K wheels (16" with 205/55/16's [tyres will be swapped for 205/45/16]) for my Firby and they weigh a ton compared to the originals (185 /60/14), gonna have to wait till they go on in spring to see what the fuel usage looks like.

thanks haha, they made such a difference to the ride even if they were not quite my taste, i would tolerate them.

for scrap my old ones are worth £35, and i have 4 near new tyres to sell aswell, so should make a few quid too.

cheers bobz

none of them are 205 45 17 ????

nope, 225 45 17, and 235 45 17. the ones that came off are the proper size 205 50 17

The difference should be quite real and noticeable, if I mind right unsprung weight is x4 sprung weight, so if you lost say 10 kilos on the 4 wheels it's the same as 40 kilos out the car ;)

They're nice!

Do suit the car. I put Zeniths on mine and they weigh a ton compared to the 15,s alloys that came off but hasn't really affected mpg :)

I run L&Ks on my mine in the summer, and they feel somewhat heavier than the Elegance spec alloys I have as my winter ones. I really should weigh one of each when I swap over the wheels this weekend.

Good work mr lofty sir

Good work indeed ;)

I shall take daytime photos today, and replace the night ones, and retitle the thread to reflect. I fear those photos do not do the look justice.

Genuine question, has your insurance gone up as you have made the car look like a vRS?

  • Author

Yes, but not much as oem bits are used, however the coilies and map and wheels, made £8 a month difference

Alright Cuz. They do look much better in the day light. I'm defo taking the rs8's off of mine and selling them on, doesn't look right with standard 4x4 ride height and large rims.
