bulb man says I have canbus on 07 fabia vrs se

Featured Replies

Excuse the lack of decent thread searching but a clean thread is what i need

as title suggests I could do with knowing straight yes or no, has a canbus system shot my number plate lights,I bought new bulbs from a notable ebay seller only to be told upon failure the canbus system in the car has broken them (apparently there isn't a light but the system is there none the less)

Prior to buying I looked and im sure I never had can-bus ?

can anyone confirm or deny ?

thanks

No it doesn't ???

EDIT- my response was based on my perceived experience from being on this forum. It sounds from the subsequent responses that it depends on the definition of Canbus in this context.

Don't know if the Fabia has canbus in any shape or form, but I do know that the bulb warning does not cover the small bulbs, ie sides and numberplates.

EDIT: Beaten to it anyway :p.

ok I got this reply, they are quite sure I do

Hi there

Thank you for your message.

We can 100% confirm your car does have a CAN-bus system connected to the plate lights (we speak from experience) - your car like the other VAG (VW-Audi group cars VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat) may not have the light on the dash warning system however they are still part of the electrical light system.

In fact in our canbus error free bulb auctions we advise using load resistors along side the canbus error free bulbs for post 2006 VAG cars including yours.

I had same problem

I installed there Rissistors today and the new bulbs seem to work great also work both ways normaly LEDs have a polarity one way but not other

IIRC I did buy canbus ones for mine as I wasn't sure and they worked.

Bum

there goes my refund !!

I didn't, bought the (near enough) cheapest possible ones I could find and had no issues with bulb warnings. Only issue was cheap bulbs failing  .

thats what happened to me, this thread was going to be emailed along with my intent to challenge their returns

3 weeks of use on number plate leds and they're kapput

cheap tat ...lesson learned ...worst £2.88 I ever spent !

Cheap bulbs seem to be hit or miss TBH. Got a 5 pack for less than that, 1 lasted 3 weeks, the other is still going strong 4months on (fingers crossed). And the one that I changed is starting to flicker already.

I got the cheapest I could too, lasted over a year and still going strong :)

Think mine were £4 each. My side lights were cheap though - 1 blew so I complained and they sent another set out. 1 blew in that pair too!

And tonight my HIDs went up in smoke.

DITTO!

My side lights were cheap though - 1 blew so I complained and they sent another set out. 1 blew in that pair too!

So I gave up and put in some free Phillips blue bulbs that I'd received with another order - and put aside but which turned out to be nice and white when turned on!

Hi Binzie,

No the the Fabia does not have a Can-Bus system fitted to the lighting system, it just a good old multi wiring loom. A Can-Bus system consists of a main control box with individual remotes on each electrical unit. If you want to know more about Can-Bus look here http://canbuskit.com/what.php

The Fabia does however have a bulb monitoring circuit which checks the main headlamps, indicators and brakes but not the side lights or number plate lights.

BUT even if it did have Can-Bus or bulb monitoring on the side lights it would not destroy any LED bulbs, just show a bulb warning error

So if your LEDs aren't working they are either connected the wrong way round or they were faulty to start with.

But cheap ones don't last anyway.

Hope this helps

Karl

The above response replicates my understanding succinctly and with a sense of authority I can only dream of eliciting!

I have changed the side lights and number lights in mine to LED - paid about £12 in total - no problems
