PS3 vs Xbox 360!

Featured Replies

The only truth to those specs is the reference to the PS3 running the Cell chip architecture.

there is a world of difference between first showcase and actually getting to market, I think for those, tbh, "kiddies" on the boards to start dissing the XBox 360 as they did just sows the efficacy of brand loyalty and badge engineering. Much in the same way as the majority of Scooby and Evo owners diss Furby vRS and VW owners look down on anyone with a Skoda......

The facts are this:

The PS3 has a single Cell chip running at 3.2Ghz. The Xbox 360 has 3 x 3.2.

Now, how a single multicore chip can somehow be capable of 3 x 64 bit dual core chips is a curious one.

But, as we all know, as AMD have repeatedly shown, it's not pure clock cylces that dictate performance in the real world. Much as raw bhp doesn't dictate real-world performance (torque is much more useful)

ONce again, Sony are pushing yet another DVD format (Blu-Ray), and while there are a few more industry names associated with it (unlike the mess that is the Memory Stick multi-format, non-cross-compatible farce), I don't see any Blu-Ray DVD machines on the market here, nor do I see any film studio releasing stuff on Blu-Ray.......

Oh, and the thread cited states that the Xbox only has 256mb RAM......Funny that, the released specs and launch very clearly states 512Mb, just like the Sony..........

my sources = BBC and official releases........

It just sounds like "Mines bigger than yours", "oh not it's not" willy-waving to me.

I'd buy an Xbox for the graphics, the specs, the built in hard drive, ethernet etc....(I mean, a custom designed Nvidia GFX chip ...hmmmm).On raw performance, it clearly outstrips the PS2, but then, being a year younger, of course it would.

But I actually bought a PS2 for four reasons only:

1) slimmer than the Xbox

2) GT4

3) Formula 1 Franchise.

4) Tekken 4 and 5

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm GT4......... how far have you got on the licenses? The special one is an ar*e...

I am the proud owner of a Toyota GT1 race car, fully modified... Know of any other cars which will be better?

I am gonna wait a while after both the PS3 and the 360 come out so I get the full verdict. They'll also be totally overpriced when brand-new...

I'm not going to be drawn into Sony Vs Microsoft argument, each to their own is my attitude...but check out the picks of the new PS3.

...drooltastic

This debate could good on for months if not years..

I bought the XBOX over the PS2 for certain reasons and I will do the same when the PS3 and XBOX 360 comes out.

Personally i cant see graphics getting much better than Forza... :D

There are some cracking vids on IGN with games expected for the X360, PS3 and the Revolution. The graphics look awesome, although I'm particularly taken with the F1 PS3 - it has an amazing crash sequence in it.
