Fabia 1.4 16v Starter motor

Featured Replies

Needing to change the starter motor on the OH 1.4 16V Fabia as it sticks for a while after starting the car.

I have had a quick look around but cant really find any info on changing it. Is it a easy enough job to do at home?

Any hits, tips tricks etc welcome!

We managed it in an afternoon with no real idea what we were doing.

From memory, there were 3, really, really long screws holding it in. Was a while ago though so don't remember any more than that I'm afraid, other than access to one being quite hard.

FWIW, we just cleaned mine up rather than replaced it and it made it a whole lot better (still did it sometimes in the rain though).

Nice one thanks.

This starter motor kinda sticks after starting the car and makes a weeee noise. Would cleaning it help? Never done anything with a starter motor before!

That's just what mine did. I'd try cleaning it first, see if makes a difference and go from there. It's free that way afterall!

Think I put a guide in that video too, but can't remember how relevant it is/was!
