Estate rear parking sensor replacement

Featured Replies

Hi. Can it be done without removing the bumper? Anyone got any tips please? I had a look today and couldn't see how I could get to them without removing the bumper.

Would be nice to DIY this rather tan a garage.

It can, I replaced one of my centre ones by just removing the undershield.

It was easier to rip the entire bracket off the rear of the bumper and glue it back on with 2 part epoxy than it was to try and work out how to unclip the sensor from the bracket by touch.

Just washed the car and had a go. What hard work! Had to undo about 5 screws all along the underneath, then lying on my back I could just get one arm inside to reach.

That was the easy bit. Spent ages trying to unclip the sensor from the bracket, then gave up and pulled it all off like you said. Then spent another age trying to separate the wiring connector with one hand, then with two through the hole!

Eventually managed it. Cleaned it up and put it all back together. System is working again now but I expect this sensor does need to be replaced.

I didn't glue it back in so will be easy to remove when I get a replacement. It seems a tight enough fit just pushing it into the hole. It looks like the original was stuck in with a double sided pad like a number plate sticker.

The original are stuck in with 3M pads activated by a special substance that enhances the 'stickability'.

I have some going spare after I fitted mine!

Are they a halfords item KB?

No. They come pre-fitted to the sensor mounts.

The adhesive promotors is really hard to get hf off (and possibly not essential, but anything that might help adhesion must be good!)
