I paid £1200 a few month ago to insure my 1.2 petrol fabia, since paid £300 or so to swap to my ibiza fr.

Anyway... The renewal for my traders insurance has came through at £275 for the year!! to drive any car... The business bmw 530 is my fav for popping out to the shops for a drink ;) bearing in mind im only 20 years old with zero ncb and one 100% claim against me.

Why are you insuring your current car separately? Dont suppose you could PM me your company for your trade policy? They sound incredibly competitive! Even more so for a trader (guessing car trader?) I take it they cover your business too?

I only just turned 21 in August and my insurance is £940 fully comp. I thought it wasn't too bad, being in Northern Ireland I think my postcode is the third highest risk as they still view this country with blinkers. There are cheaper on here for my age but yours is horrendous I feel sorry for you, I didn't even pay that when I got mine at 18

I insure my own car to build ncb and a few other reasons, girlfriend and dad are on the policy also, best to keep it separate from work imo.

I dont deal with or pay the traders insurance, my boss does. Im an apprentice mechanic so need to drive other cars to test drive for safety, diagnose faults, pickup/drop off customers, collect parts etc etc..

I'd imagine £275 is just a small part of the big picture with quite a few other mechanics at the garage on the policy. We were all very suprised how cheap it was to add me to the policy.

I`m gonna give them a bell then. Mine says on one bit I can but then there is a further exclusion clause for young drivers later on in the paperwork. I phoned to check and they said no, but I`ll ring again I think. :D

Think I'll give them a phone up to make sure I am covered. I can't see an exclusion clause anywhere on my documents but you can never be to safe, especially with insurance as they always look for a way out if anything happens

you might find that you can drive any other car whilst at work but limited to an engine size whilst out of business hours, my mates is like this. he's limited to a 1.6 until he's 23 or something daft like that.

Oh the £275 is the chunk to add you onto it, I see, gotcha now. In that situation your right it's best to keep your separate to work.

Im not to sure on mine, havnt quite read the small print as such... But i do know what you mean, i was speaking to a friend at another garage who's 17, passed his test and also been put on a traders policy. He is limited to 1.0 and under at all times!! Not much to drive really

not that im been negative :p i'd love to be in your situation! yes mr officer. i am driving this 535d on a business use for a customer ya see. i am just test driving it! ;) hahah :p

Pretty much how it goes yep, of course respect has to be given to the customers cars and sticking to the speed limits at all times, getting caught speeding in a customers car would be very bad for business and i'd lose my job.... or at least, be taken off the insurance!

a plus side is knowing the customers well and them saying "give it the beans and see what shes like" so going for a quick blast down the motorway :)

still think my cars quicker than any customers car i've driven anyway.
