erratic excessive speed alarm

Featured Replies

This is the second time i am complaining about this. My excessive speed alarm is behaving erratically, even though i have had it set by th dealer to 140 kph, it can sound any speed after 60 kph. It can go for long periods without sounding. I somehow get the impression that it sounds if there is a passenger next to me. It is really infuriating and a nuisance. The dealer is not being of much help as he thinks the settings are okay. Anyone else has this problems and how can i sole it?

I don't have maxi-dot just the standard cluster but if I use the button on the end of the wiper stalk I can cycle to the speed alarm and either change it or switch it off.

When switched off it should read --- or similar.

That's how to change it yourself anyways. I forget if it makes the same tone as the seat belt warning?

Maybe your seat belt latch is faulty?

Or it is the 'boing' for low coolant level? which can occur randomly if the sensor gets fitted up

Or for outside temp

Or for outside temp

Does it drop to under 4 degrees in Africa??

Ha... Well spotted...

Maybe so on a cold night? ;)

Problem solved :) - When mine goes off I pull over and make her take the bus...
