Anyone want a different switch light colour in their W8 cat-vision unit?

Featured Replies

Despite the bizarre & slightly annoying issue i'm having with mine where the reading lights don't come on individually and light all four bulbs up unless both switches are pressed, in studying the unit, i've worked out how to change every single LED in the unit, which means that if you've bought a W8 unit so that the black plastic matches the vRS roof lining, it's quite easy* to change both the colour of the cat-vision downlight AND the backlighting on the switches. This is for the sunroof version, but as the switches are the same I see no reason why it wouldn't work on the non-sunroof version too.

If anyone's interested, reply here and i'll bother taking pics and going through it, otherwise I won't bother as it'll be quite a bit of info. (if anyone is and can take a pic of the circuit board on the back of their non sunroof unit, i'll just show it on that)

Alternatively, i've ALSO discovered that if for some reason you happen to have the grey superb one AND the black W8 one, you can simply take all the grey bits of plastic off and as long as the units are identical (as i've not seen a W8 one to compare to mine but pictures on vrscarl's tutorial suggest so) you can replace with the black equivalent. If you're careful, all the switches simply pop off so you can have the black fascia with the green Superb lighting. Bit of a longshot that you'll have both, but you never know. :)

*(dependant on whether you know how to use a soldering iron to a basic standard)

Least something positive has come of the current situation

Always a bright side if you look hard enough. :0)

There's a lighting-based pun in there somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it! :D
