VCDS vs VCDS lite

Featured Replies

Hi all sorry if this is a re-post as I'm sure some one will have asked this before. I am looking to buy VCDS as an Xmas present to my self.

I am unsure as to which one I should go for/need, any help with this would be appreciated.

I have an early 2006 registered 55 plate Octavia 2.0 TDI 140bhp ambiente

What I think I will use it for are the following:

Scan for fault codes and clear them.

Turn off dash warning lights ( I currently have the airbag light on following my messing with fuses)

Check and adjust the setup of my comfort settings ( my alarm does not flash indicators or make a noise when armed and my headlight on buzzer does not work so want to check that these have not been switched off by prev owner)

Would lite be enough for the above or do I need the full VCDS?

Also will lite work with my car? I have read on the Ross tech site that its for pre 2006 vehicles?

If I go for lite I would be purchasing the cable from Genden and then registering it with Ross tech to get the full benefit of all of its functions.

The other factor in my question is cost as there is an obvious saving between the 2.

Cheers

Dave

I think you will need the HEX+CAN full daddy VCDS to achieve all the above, mainly the comfort settings (i.e coding)
