Problems fitting aftermarket stereo

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Need some advice. My father has a Skoda Octavia MK1. I bought him a new car stereo. I've removed the standard head unit and I have all the wiring connected to the new hu and the cage for the hu in place, but I cannot get the stereo to go back in the dash far enough to lock in the cage. The stereo sticks out about an inch and looks ridiculous!

At first I thought that the wiring at the back of the hu was obstructing the hu, but I investigated it more and it seems that the stereo actually hits up against some kind of bracket at the back of the dash.

Any suggestions? It's a Tevion hu. Can this bracket be removed to created more space?

that bracket i think allows a prong to be fitted to the back of the headunit to help support it, i took mine out on my last car to help fit all the extra wiring for the amp etc, hth

Cheers. I will get to this later so. I am hoping for the bones of an extra inch in depth here, failing that a new hu!
