At last .....its stopped raining.....so a week after collecting my Superb I finally get to give it a quick check over, pump the tyres up and change the air filter to a K and N one .....everything seems ok so now all I have to do is get the instructions out when I find something new :-)

That'll make a change - most people just come straight here to post!

And inevitably end up selling the car a few years later without even realising the car can do X Y Z.

RTFM, we ALL learn something from them.

It’s a man thing, Don't ask directions and Don't read instruction manuals, and when it fails call the garage or shop to say it's faulty, then the guy calls out and says it's in the instruction manual... didn't you read the instructions?

I used to work for Dixons/Currys calling out to peoples houses fixing faulty equipment when people used to get things repaired (TV's, Video's, HIFI's etc) and this was always the standard repair "Customer education" which the company viewed as a chargeable job where £42.50 was to be paid, needless to say just to keep the customers happy I used to falsify the details to keep them happy.

But in saying that with technology these days everything is very complicated, all the gadgets that mobile phones and cars have even without thinking it's very easy to mess things up.

I always say that this FORUM is the best and friendliest I've come across..

After a lot of Skodas in the last 12 years (5 Octavias, 2 Superbs and a yeti) most of the gadgets are easy to figure......

Yes, but the point I was trying to get across was there are lots of little features that will go by unnoticed if you don’t do them in the right sequence:

folding door mirrors from the remote - will not work if the knob is not left in the ‘L’ position

Pressing the remote twice to deadlock the car… because that is what you had to do on your old car, turns the deadlock off on a VAG.

Turning the motion sensors off, so you can leave an animal in a locked car for a few mins.

this list is almost endless, read the manual and all these little things that are not obvious will become clearer (I would not say clear as the manual is not translated very well… but it is better than nothing)

Came close to visiting the dealer twice - glad I read the manual / consulted BriSkoda first!

First time - Found windows all down by 2cm. - Feared a repetition of my Mondeo, which could open all electric windows at will - discovered it was me pressing the remote wrongly!

Second time - Realised the outside mirrors were not demisting - read the manual, and found the heated mirror position on the switch. Why do they put it in a place where it cannot be viewed from the driver's position? I expected them to come on with the HRW.

Agree...it's the one thing on the Superb that doesn't make any sense to me. All my other cars that have head heated mirrors have had the switch integrated with the rear demist, which to me, makes perfect sense for rearward vision. Problem is if I want to demist the mirror because I'm reversing then the passenger door mirror will not tilt down 'cos it has to be in the 'L' position for that. Is it me?
