Do you think Skoda/Dealers get annoyed............

Featured Replies

We all know what's wrong with our car when they go faulty/ Breakdown due to the vast knowledge about Skoda's off this web site wether it's Injectors, engine, air con or alike and we all go armed with information about the fault and is that why we sometimes get a negative reaction. Comments like " we have had no recalls " or " never heard of that "

Do Skoda or the Stealers think we know to much?

Do you think the dealers get annoyed that we sometime know about things before they do, like updates/ fixes etc etc

Could that be why some are a bit reluctant to help

Just a thought

No, because most of their work is routine and most customers will take what they say.

The sales team at dealer where I bought my octavia said that I probably knew more about coding then their own technicians

They even let me plug my vag com in to the new car before they PDI it

Probably better to let them tell you what you already know...at least you know you're right.

I think the way in which you choose to tell the dealer what you know makes all the difference.

Going in there all guns blazing reeling off pages and pages of forum quotes and you'll no doubt get their backs-up.

Likewise, trying to explain anything with a mechanical theme to the girl on reception for her to attempt to translate on to the job card isn't going to work!

Leave a note of the passenger seat on top of the service book. This is what I do, this way the technician (or mechanic - or whatever they call themselves these days!) can read exactly what your thoughts are and choose to read it or ignore it for himself.

Some girls have brains too, you know. They're not all numpties on reception.

Having worked for a (non-VAG) dealer, I can assure you that the answer is a resounding YES. It really p*ssed off the guys on service reception.

I can also tell you that no-one takes any notice of whatever you tell them.

After all, if you're such an expert, why aren't you doing it yourself? :giggle:

I've yet to find one. They seem to be employed based on their physical prowess rather than their abililty to talk me through a DPF regeneration.

They should just do as they're bloody told if they want to take the money.

My dealer does take note of what I say and they know I'm on here too as they say this place is a world of interesting information.

No.

My dealer is on here as a forum sponsor...

There's a good one at a local VW dealershiip, she puts most of the blokes there to shame with her knowledge. I swear she has an ETKA implant and is actually a robot. With tits.

Near the beginnning of my buying process a couple of the sales guys commmented 'oh yeah, Briskoda, where they know more than the dealer' and laughed whilst rolling their eyes ............ I should have taken the hint there and then and gone to another dealer. The one where I bought my mudflaps was extremely helpful and pointed out that this place was an extremely good resource for advice and solutions.

Different outlook, different day, I know which one gets my money :)
