Excellent how low?

you keep any mods from the octy like wheels etc you can transfer over? as said lowering is a good start and with some nice wheels the estates look very nice.

I have standard alloys from octy, either selling octy for spares or repair or dismantling so could do but want some reasonably interesting wheels for it with lowering going on, maybe some of these, really like them, any other suggestions, I really like the standard VAG pepperpot looking wheels aswell if you know anyone with some?

i like the look of them pretty different but i personally think 15s are a tad small but depends how low you go to fill the arch. a nice set of 17s will fill the arch nicely with out scraping the ground. plenty in the vag range to, the pepper pot style you mention im not sure if old audi a3s come with a pepper pot style wheel.

Yeah I have 15's from my octy so would look to good. I mean 17's would be nice but gotta find some. I prefer alloys that fill the space more you know, not spokey stuff.

something like this would be cool

Yeah i think they were on a3's quite nice, saw an estate with them on in white and a little lowered around here and it looked real nice.

i dont know trying to find individual stuff is hard at a lower price, Im a student photographer dont have high cash flow!!

where do you guys stand on the idea of stickerbombing (btw not whole bonnets and stuff like the odd lip and sill or something?

yer think the estate could pull the dares off when lowered abit. personally i dont mind the odd bit of stickerbomb if its not ott, with most things its each to there own and its making your car unique at the end of the day and being your own.

What kind of offset/width and size of wheels and tyres if i wanted 17" without spacers?

  • Author

Yeah i get that, i just wanted people to know its me in my daily!!

Yeah looking at wheels all over the net now lol!

offsets for fabs by the book are between 35-42 with no issues. you could go down to 25 for abit more poke with out the need for spacing or arch issues with the correct tyres.

I struggle with wheels,

So the lower the number the higher the offset.....?

adn what width rim should i get ?

lower the number the further the face/lip of the wheel is from the hub, so higher number the closer it is. so lower offset=poke and high offset=tuck.

rim width the norm is 7-7.5j for a nice width no arch issues if your talking 17s, 16s normaly go down to 6.5j (vrs size) but can go up to 7.5 aswell no trouble. people run over 8 on here with no trouble but using stretch tyres to fit in the arch. also the odd nutters run 9.5 on the rear. but the 7-7.5 is a normal wheel width on the uprated wheels on fabs

Cosmetics... Sport or VRS bumpers, maybe wheel-arch covers, skirts. Interior chrome packs/sets. Chrome heater knobs.

Pop-out cup holder alongside radio. Upgrade ICE. Fit h/u amp and front component speakers.

Check out eBay or breakers for sport or VRS interior parts, soft trims and seats. Not sure if hatch rears easily fit in estates though.

Aftermarket gear knob top and leather gaitor. Leather steering wheel cover...

Got front mats? OEM or aftermarket mats.

HI Guys,

Been taking into consideration your suggestions and my first buys are going to be as follows for my 1.4 mpi estate.

- OEM spoiler

- Octy alloys ( maybe form my old octy )

- Lowering springs - 30-40mm

So in light of all this I know I can get the spoiler relatively cheap. The alloys free ofcourse if I go ahead with that, but the lowering springs are my only big cost. Is there anybody who has any for sale, second hand or anything?

cheers boys
