Lights do not switch on (but other lights work fine)

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I've had a problem that has gotten progressively worse in the past few weeks, my lights do not turn on properly (but now, not at all).

Unless it was just coincidence, the problem started when I left my lights on all day my mistake. My battery went flat so i had to recharge it etc. When I tried to turn on my lights again the next day the switch didn't seem to work first time. I had to press the button 2/3 times and then the switch would be illuminated/lights would work fine.

This was the case for a week or so, no big deal, I just had to press the switch a few times. But now the light switch will only work if I keep it pressed in. When I let go it will depress as normal but the lights wont stay on.

My emergency lights, courtesy head light (?), and indicators all work perfectly fine. It's almost like the switch is damaged, but I'm guessing it would be something else. I have no idea where the related wires on to check connections. The only wires inside the car I can see (tucked away near passenger feet area) are for the stereo as far as I can tell

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot in advance everyone.

I used to leave the dipped beam light switch on all the time, and then turn them on and off with the sidelights ;)

I've got the same issue with my cube. Brought it on Sat and drove home in the dark fine (all switches worked 1st time). Went to go to work this morning, sidelights worked fine, but dip wont come on :( I did swich the lights off (the only 1 time I had them on) using the sidelights switch and wondered if this was the problem, but I gueess not
