Driving shoes?

Featured Replies

I think Steering wheels are good anytime to be honest

+1, though I think they're an optional extra on some Beemers

most comfy shoes I've worn for driving are cheepy Karrimor Summit'spost-73816-0-55192100-1354034095_thumb.jpg

I like yours though Garry! Might upgradings

They are called Adi racer remodel Matt.

Get a half size bigger than you usually take though ;) Mine were £34

A couple of questions about your shoes Gary,

Are they low profiles

Have you got flat spots

Are slick versions available

What pressure do you use on the track

?

been buying these trainers for years even before owning a car. find them very comfortable to drive in and they are almost the same as the ones f1 drivers wore (not fireproof).

Whats next driving gloves? or are they a bit peado?

edit: anyone remember this tw@?

Speed rated to infinity.

Have to run on the spot for ten minutes before I can drive in them.

They have racing valves too.

And it's Garry... The extra R adds 50 mph :moon:

I referenced that vid in post 19. It's one youtube vid I'll never forget. :D

And i've had both parked on my drive for a couple of years. Sadly both cars now sold on.

Mine have skid marks does that count?

Im still chuckling to myself even as i write this.

As for driving shoes, in my old beemer any slip on typr trainer was what i used as i had to be able to remove it when driving so i could rest my foot under the brake pedal while cruis control was engaged. I know it sounds horrendously dangerous but when you knees are as buggered as mine its a neccessity.

Thats why the best thing about my octy id the foot rest for my right foot. Why on earth do all cars not have this.

If you want my serious opinion on branded driving shoes then i fear you wont appreciate the answer.

I though playing xbox at my age was nerdy and geeky but driving shoes, for a skoda????????????

I'm going to suggest that driving shoes are actually more important in low powered cars, because the better you can control the brakes the less time you'll spend on them when you don't need to be.

No skodas here anymore

Agreed, in fact driving shoes if not a racing driver is so wrong.(unless track day- even then I'm not sure)

Driving gloves or shoes should be banned for sheer geekiness.

I'm not convinced by this - in a low powered car you just don't bother with the brakes :D

I have a pair of racing boots that I picked up a few years ago when they seemed a good idea but I've only used them a handful (or foot-full?!) of times as they don't seem to make a measurable amount of difference to my driving and the sole is stupidly thin so that walking around on anything other than smooth tarmac is uncomfortable. Now I just wear some thin-souled cheapy trainers.

Plus you look a complete bell end when walking round in public wearing driving shoes. You would need to change them upon leaving the car.

Fortunately mine are plainish black and my jeans cover most of them so they don't stand out but people do wonder why I'm hobbling around like I'm walking on hot coals

Racing boots with jeans tucked in a a complete no no. You might as well go out dressed as the stig.

This does have its advantages:-

  1. Nobody can see your face through the smoked visor
  2. Nobody will expect you to speak to them.
