I accidentally posted this in the Fabia I forum (http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/178601-trip-computer-problem/#entry3025181), but got no answer, so now I'm cross posting it here.

I understand there are two memories on the trip computer:

#1 is the short-term one, which resets itself after a break of 2 hours (or when manually reset). This works fine - and always has.

#2 is the long-term one, which only resets when I hold the reset button under the stalk. I reset this every time I tank and compare it to my brim-to-brim calculations.

But in the last few weeks #2 has started to reset itself when I start the ignition - even if there has been less than a 2 hour break. I know this doesn't sound like a serious fault, but it seems very strange behaviour. Any ideas why?

Strange , mine has always reset after 20hrs of journey time .

Forgot all about "trip 2" until I saw this post! Lol

Just had a look and its been recording for the last 50 hours, 1293 miles and averaged 34mpg over that period which I don't reckon is too bad considering its mainly town use (26mph average speed) :-)

I love my 2nd trip, although its always a bit depressing to find what your actual average speed was. My fastest tankful was only 76km/h (47mph), and my slowest one is 41km/h (25mph). Still faster than cycling...
