Radio reception rubbish!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a 02 Oct VRS with standard ICE. It's my first Skoda and to say that I am disappointed with the radio reception is an understatement.

Is this common to the brand or do I have an issue with my radio?

FM is acceptable but MW (talksport and Radio 5 live) are at times impossible to listen to.

Any thoughts or ideas are most welcome,

Neil

My AM is dire although the FM is fairly good..........

VWDAN any recommendations of an aftermarket head unit then?

My Sony Xplode was so so reception wise, but upgrading to a Pioneer made matters worse :( . MW tends to be very hit & miss.

Suspect in my case it may be the aerial, so it may be worth you checking that side of it out & either consider an upgrade or install an in line booster. ;)

From recent experience theAM reception needs the powered aerial , standard radio supplies power from the head unit. My aftermarket one did not . An adapter with a blue lead to connect to a switched supply is needed to send 12v to the aerial . Can be found for about £3. Otherwise your aerial may be diff . Could it be not properly earthd? Have not dismantled an artillery so cannot help there.

I hate predictive text! Post should read, (if you have a live 12v supply ). Your aerial may be duff

Has it got a good earth connection? Have not taken one apart so can't help there.
