which alloy wheel wax/sealant ?

Featured Replies

Which sealant is everyone using to keep their alloys nice and shiny. I have just purchased team dynamic pro race 3's in white (bellow) and don't think they will stay that colour for long.

I just use the wax i use on my paint - Collinite 476s

gtechniq c5 seems to be the best product by a considerable margin, in terms of durability and protection. Not a wax, it's some kind of crystalline chemical compound which creates a solid glass clear layer on top of the surface. You can pretty much just hose dirt and brake dust off. But its very expensive. Lasts for months though.

I use Poorboys wheel sealant on my Zeniths. Put 4 coats on them and nothing sticks to them now.

Poor boys for me too

I fancy trying a decent one. I put 2 coats of FK1000 on mine and noticed no different!

I used Fk1000p on mine and think it's brilliant, 3 coats and I just jet wash the dirt off . Good value for money too.

Seriously, look into the gtechniq stuff. I did a bunch of research because I was thinking about putting on some bbs rc 41s I've had for ages but the lips are polished. I knew I would never clean them after every drive and they would end up wrecked. This appears to be the only product a number of people felt would protect the rims over a duration of months rather than weeks.

I also have been using poorboys stuff, but I think I will give the g technique stuff a go for next summers wheels.

. . . . 3 days time they`ll look like this

I have an unused bottle of gtechnique, will see if I can dig it out. Will sell it for a little less than it costs new as I doubt I'll put the polished wheels on.

I'll be interested depending how much I get on Friday :)

C5 is a wheels sealant and last for ages.

The only problem with C5 is prep work. People that have problems with it not working or not lasting the time is they skipped a stage in the prep work.

All the how to do's with the gtechniq brand can be found here...http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=212121

Hope this helps

How many alloys does one 15ml bottle do?

Certainly a full set by all accounts, and then some. I think you literally just wipe a really thin layer over with a little swab.

looking at them i think a set ok black wheels with a bit of white detail would have been a better choice

but you now have to clean them
