Best replacement bulbs for my Elegance

Featured Replies

Well my Mk1 1.9TDI Elegance had a dipped bulb go so i bought a set of Osram Nighbreaker Plus in H7..... Fitted them today... WOW, They are so bright compared to the standard on both the Mk1 and my Mk2..... are these still the best ones to buy for the Mk2 or are there others that fit the Mk2 that don't on the earlier model. Ta.

I run the Philips X-treme in mine - Slightly cheaper than the Osrams and in an old Auto Express shoot out the Philips won.

I do 16k miles a year and have to replace them yearly. Massive difference over the stock bulbs.

The mechanic at my local Skoda mentioned they might damage the plastic lens as a result of the heat they generate. I don't think this would be the case as we'd have heard from other forum memvers by now, but would anyone think this might happen? I know they do get very hot with the OEM bulbs as quite often I see the steam evaporating off the headlights when I come to a stop in the rain.

^^^^^^ no they are 55w so no issue but if there is an issue with electrics in headlight your warranty is voided as they are non oem

Good point on the warranty, mine still have a year to go..... may wait.

Wouldn't worry I've used the Philips extreme and loads better plus adjust the height of the headlight

I've fitted Ring 120 Zenons, in my MK2 they are alot better than Skoda bulbs.

I've had Philips X-tremes in my Fabia for 3 years now. Never had an issue with heat at all, and they're just brilliant.

Can't recommend them enough!

How are they compared to Philips
