moving itunes songs between computers, problems

Featured Replies

Basically one the the songs have been loaded onto itunes in the new computer after moving using a external hardrive and copy and paste, itunes comes up with the error "original file cannot be found" (or something to that effect)

Anyone know how to fix this?

Try adding the folder to the library through the settings, this is the only way I've managed to get itunes to detect anything...

Created a folder in my documents and moved them into there and it seems to have worked cheers :)

The new iTunes needed to be told the path to the library folder containing the songs, but you've sorted it now

I can see you are sorted now but last time I had this problem it was due to the drive letter & path changing to the files. I now have a partition on my HD just for itunes music so I can always keep the letter and path constant.

Howvwe I am still scared of getting a new laptop because of the pain of moving my music!

Itunes is just a pain to work with....one of the reasons i dont like apple stuff there just so imcompatable with other software

I've always found it a pretty good interface and I overlay Pure Music over the top to sort out the indifferent sound quality.

I do have some frustrations with using Remote though.

Just bought Kindle Fire for SWMBOs Christmas and Samsung tablet for daughter, been experimenting with Amazon cloud and it looks like I can move my ITunes library across for use on android
