Another newbie. Mk1 Octavia Vrs

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. Been looking for a vRS daily driver/workhorse to replace my Mondeo ghia X. Fancied a vRS for years now so been looking for months and closely watching the forums (as a guest) on Briskoda.

Looked at a few but mostly high mileage (not always a bad thing i know) or not quite up to scratch.

One of my employee's husband has been a Skoda man for as long as I can remember and a couple of years ago I did the customary "If you ever get rid of it give me first refusal".

Well, he's sold it to me now (And bought a Fabia).

Fastidiously serviced, almost mint and only 73k miles.

First impressions?

Nippy, well built and nice to look at (in my eyes anyway). Not as comfortable as the Mondeo but that was expected. Crap windscreen demist as well (Mondeo was heated) but then you cant have everything.

I think I am going to have a good relationship with the old girl.

How do lotusunbeam, I had a ti then Lotus and eventually an Avon Lotus - RWD fun at it's best, what cars!

Don't mention the windscreen demist on Skods

2x Sunbeam Lotus'. A man after my own heart.Bought my first series 2 in Moonstone/Silver in 1986. Cost? £5200! I was penniless but I had more fun in that car in two years than any other since. After I fitted a LSD, wanna be racers would laugh at the badge on the front wing.....and then I would embarrass them at the traffic light grand prix, such was the acceleration from a standstill due to that low 1st gear. Could never understand how so many people in fast cars had no idea what a Sunbeam Lotus was though.

Second one was in the early Nineties. Highly modified and used for competing for a few years in the London Counties sprint championship and a few trackdays. Shame the mods made it a crap road car. Maybe i'm wearing Rose tinted glasses again.....
